Well, the only reason to take him is to get him caponized...so<shrug>

But call them, ask if they do the procedure and how much it costs.
It's gonna be pricey(like hundreds of dollars) is my bet...
...that may help you make a decision.
Still dont know at the momemt how much it will cost if i decide to do so but I heard they would pit him to sleep while doing the surgery.

The main reason I would like to is to prevent his behavior from getting worse which it isn't too bad right now and to also not worry about him hurting the hens or killing them while mating.

I'll assume you know that the male will no longer be able to fertilize the eggs after the procedure. While I've never had a caponized male, my guess is that he may no longer be as interested in mating after the caponization. Mating is also a dominance display, so he might do it for dominance, or a dominant hen may end up mounting him.

Good Luck.

Right now the only reason I want him castrated is to prevent him from mating or becoming meaner especially to the hens. As of now there is one particular hen he terriozes constantly, no breaks, which leaves her hiding in the coop all day and she will soon decline in health if not stopped. For now I am having to separate him til I can get my mind clear on what to do. I Love him greatly and absolutely would hate to get rid of him. I just want his behavior to stop!
