Hello all,
I'm very new to raising chickens and have been getting eggs from one of my girls that contain small specks. See attached pic. What are these and is it ok to eat? Also, is it something that can be corrected with their diet or something else? Thank you very much for your help.

Meat spots or blood spots are completely safe to eat, though if you don't like the look of them you can pick them out before or after cooking. Some birds are just predispositioned to them (one of mine has meat spots in her eggs about 90% of the time). It can also be related to age of the bird, physical activity (jumping up and down), diet, and probably a number of other things.
