for those with power out, for along time, put a blanket over your incubator, and if you have hot water you can always put a hot water bottle in the bator to help keep the temp up..
I have australorp and rir, my australorps are more personable, and one of my girls started laying around 16 wks,, my rir has alot smaller eggs, and could care less if we are around or not, will come eat food from you but other then that has nothing to do with us.not supper friendly.

Fuzzy - well its all a learning curve, figuring out what works for your incubator..trick is keeping the temp steady without touching the knob.. and around day 14 your temp will spike thats when i start taking out red plugs, and sometimes take towel off. works great. good luck
fuzzy - yes your temp should be up in a still air incubator.. if you had a fan in your bator then 98-99 would work.. when temp is lower your chicks may be on the smaller side and not hatch ontime. maybe give them till day 25..
fuzzybut is your temp 91 in your incubator. i keep my red plugs in during lockdown and during the whole time if need be..remove them when the temp spikes, replace if it drops. but during lockdown they are plugged. i also keep a towel on my bator, and if temp rises and taking out red plugs dont...
