This is well thought out and an easy read - both essential to sorting out beginner questions. And it doesn't hurt that the pictures are beautiful! Nicely done!

I, too, learned this lesson the hard way. Who could have guessed (certainly not the kid that I was!) that a duck could drown? Thank you for this well-thought-out and very nicely written warning.

This looks pretty good. I'm curious as to how moisture/water resistant it turned out, especially in rainy weather.

I hadn't considered it but I live in Southern California. The run is covered so it doesn't get direct rainfall. Sprinklers & splash may be an issue, though minor.

No real "how-to" instructions, but that's perfectly fine. The pictures are so clear that they really aren't needed - especially since dimensions don't need to be perfect. Nicely done!

This is a really nice brooder. The parts list is great. Could you possibly add some "how-to" info and pics showing how you cut and spliced the wiring? That would be extremely helpful.
Your pictures are great - and your rooster is absolutely gorgeous! Some text describing their temperament and pros/cons of your "journey" with them would be really helpful, especially for people really interested in Heritage Breeds.

What a neat article! Great observations ... and even better descriptions. I'll definitely be paying closer attention to my birds' pecking interactions, now. Thanks, I think!

There is a lot of good insight here. Descriptions on how and why things were done a particular way, including pros and cons of what would change in a do-over. Very nicely done!

What a great article! It's well written and wide-ranging, with just the right touch of humor. And if that wasn't enough, the pictures make it "read" like a story book. Beautiful!

What a great build! The article is short, sweet, clear and easy to follow. The pics are just as good. The exterior arm and chain rig is about the ONLY safe way to use a heat lamp. The suggestion to add some ventilation makes this a top-notch home brooder. Very nicely done!

There's a lot to love about Polish chickens ... at least according to this author! The points are put across well and convincingly, so much so that I might have to have another look at some Polish. Nicely done!

There's an old book out there called "Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics." Numbers can tell a powerful story - and can tell it in whatever manner the writer chooses to present them. We need to stay open and logical ... and use our innate common sense to get the true message. Yes. Salmonella is a problem ... we know that. But ... contracting it from our backyard flocks is absolutely preventable. Keep up the good work, BYC'ers!
