Reviews by One Lucky Momma

When one of my hens gave me reason to suspect she was heading down the broody path and I knew less about it than she did, I came looking for guidance and thankfully this was the first article I found.

DobieLover’s vivid description of a hen gone broody confirmed my suspicions. We’re undecided as to which way we’ll go but I feel much better prepared to manage either direction.

In addition to the author’s suggestions, I appreciate the explanations and rationale, and especially the personal anecdotes. Well done and many thanks.

Thank you for your review. This is why I like writing articles. To help others understand what to do and why to do it. Understanding the "why" is always best. That puts you on a path to come up with other ideas that may be better suited to your particular situation. Good luck with that broody brat!
This is one of the jewels I’ve discovered as a result of binge reading Shadrach’s ex-battery thread (I’ve started when the thread is 531 pages long, am not quite half way caught up ).

IMO, this is worthy of publication in a general interest sort of magazine. Iluveggers has cheerfully and succinctly described what many of us discovered when we gingerly stepped into the World of Home-kept Chickens. The photos are icing on the cake.

This was without a doubt the best time I’ve EVER had reading a coup build article! You made us feel like we were right there with you.

You managed to present a lot of pertinent detail in a well organized fashion without it reading like a chart. And what great photos, used very effectively. I appreciated hearing about your mistakes and how you remedied them.

And, congratulations on the men in your life! What great support. (was that a Harley I saw in the garage?)

I hope I never have to do this but if the time comes, I know I will. The article is about as clear as one could be on the subject.

Concise information, well organized, pertinent photographs.

What a great project, and a corresponding article that is well detailed and photographed. Being located beneath the deck I imagine has benefits weatherwise. And it’s a lovely shade of blue!

This is not only a fabulous coop, the article describing it one of the very best I’ve read on BYC.

So many thoughtful details, all well organized and clearly laid out. This Is definitely one coop design to read if you’re still in the planning stages (or planning your next coop ?).

A well organized article with some interesting information.

I was a little surprised by the suggestion that regarding laying, today’s birds don’t need to rely on the sun... may be true but doesn’t feel in keeping with the spirit of BYC. Also, the effects of free ranging on egg quality would have been good to see.

Nice photos of some lovely hens. And that tall grass stash was most impressive! ???

Concise and well written, obviously from experience! Reading this article carefully could boost a person on the way to recovery or perhaps even save them from the slippery slope altogether.

I appreciate information in listed form - it’s concise and easy to apply. That said, I’d also appreciate a little more detail regarding why a particular plant is not safe for our chicks.
Beautiful photos!
