Outstanding and comprehensive. This will be my go-to article when I need to remember this kind of information. Like you, I also use seed-starting mats covered with shavings on the floor of the coop and they like to spend time there when they've been outside and their feet are cold from the ice and snow.

totally comprehensive about the science of chickens' natural eating instincts and how to meet their needs economically and in a way that is satisfying. So @Perris, I'm guessing retired botanist - ?

thanks for your feedback @SituationalLefty. Good guess; retired historian of science that included botany.

Amazing. Michael's ability to improvise and use old stuff is inspiring. I like the "I'd rather be flying" bumper sticker - took me a minute to get it. As did the name "Maurice," which we Americans pronounce differently.

I'd love to see some pictures of Michael cutting the car in two - and getting rid of the front part of the car to whoever bought it on Ebay.

Bravo!

I recently bought some of these for an aggressive hen and this is a well-written guide to using them. Thanks! I love the sweatpants hack too ;-)

Brilliant article. This is so helpful in rationalizing how to grow chicks up in and out of the brooder. Lots of good strategies here.

Chicken paradise. Great description of the step-by-step. I think that vinyl floor calls for a matching fireplace in the coop ;-). I wish I had a DH with all the skills yours has, and you remind me that I need a tool belt. Great pics of the chicks. And kudos on your scoring of an about-to-be-thrown away building that is perfect for a coop conversion. Thanks for sharing this.

Fantastic coop. I love all the ways you can adjust it, as for winter, and it meets chicken needs and wants in so many ways. Thanks for sharing.
