Is it dark in the coop? They can't see in the dark. If I dont have a light on and/or they aren't in there before dusk, mine won't go into the dark coop.
Thanks. They haven't had their heat lamp for about a week or so inside. I guess I'll wait till I can make the wall/fence inside the coop to keep them separated from the hen before I put them out there. Was just kinda hoping since there is only one big hen and 10 babies, they'd be alright. But I...
I've only got one hen left, she's around 7-8 months. The babies are 5 weeks today, and I really would like to get them out of the house. Would they be ok together yet or is it still too soon. I put them together in the run while I was watching. Last night, the babies were screaming and driving...
Thanks for the advice. I put a towel over them - about 3/4 covered cuz I'm afraid they'll smother. They are in there whistling softly. No loud chirping like they are supposed to do when they are upset.

At least now I know how its getting in, and based on the tracks what it is: a skunk! My poor little girl was caught in the side of the door, it couldn't pull her all the way out. So it just ate the part it could get out. I have one big girl left. Today we put new doors on the coop. We thought...
I read in one of those "how you know youre from stl" articles, that people from STL measure distance in time, rather than miles. Reading these threads, a lot of us do that! I do too. I'm about an hour south of STL!
I had a cat once that ran away. 8 years later, she showed up in my basement. She had gotten in through a doggie door. She hung around for a few months, and then was gone again.
