HELP! My Hens have been scared out of the house...

We've had several different "things" get the hens. We had a bob cat and took care of it. We had a raccoon ( I think) that would just take the heads off, but not eat the chickens. At the same time we had something unlatch our rabbit hutch and kill several baby bunnies. We were thinking coon...

HELP! My Hens have been scared out of the house...

We had a critter ( of unknown species, possibly more than one type) in our hen house last winter, it got several of my hens, and then late in the spring after we thought we had got rid of it, my chicks and a sitting hen. We have slowly been conjoling my remaining hens back to the henhouse, and...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

Doug I couldn't find any cheaper either, but as I was grumbling about only having 12 chickens and not needing a whole gallon a very nice young guy told me they had smaller bottles in the back...it was $17 for 16oz. I don't know why it was kept in the back... but it couldn't hurt to ask.

What causes a perfectly set perfectly turned egg to pip the wrong end? I was waiting for internal pips to lockdown. Didn't have any last night and had one this morning. Picked up #3 and it was very largely external pipped but in the wrong end. Its peeping and rolling in there so hopefully...

It's a white light and no it's pecking itself. No fluff on its butt left whatsoever. Not a great pic. Looks irritated and red. Crusty even? I have since washed with warm water.. Still looks red but no crusty. It wasn't poo either, more like seepage from irritation? I have looked in...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

The first of my staggered hatch has been successful! I had a hatch about 8 days ago, and one finish yesterday. Only set three and all 3 hatched. I have 3 more chicks due for lockdown... Um... On the 6th and so far they look good. Then unless something awesome comes around I am done for a...

Good! Worrying about Oklahoma right now for sure. We're getting some pretty nasty stuff as well as flooding. I heard a tree hit a while ago, but we lost several in the drought last year that they don't have strong roots now. Stay Safe everyone!

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

Question. I had a pip last night late. Today we were gone and 2 others hatched and pecked away the loose she'll from the pip. I now have a dime size hole in this egg. I can see beak but the membrane is drying.. will it be able to hatch like this? It is now 24+ hour since external pip, no...
