    How to stop the family dog from chasing my chickens?

    My dog did the same catch/release game with my chickens but I a couple days after each "game" the chickens died! I then resorted to putting the dog in the kennel during the day and letting the chickens out to free range, and at night I reversed it! Worked for me!

    I don't wash my eggs until I go to use them. Sometimes the really dirty ones I will, but mostly mine aren't too bad so I just place them in a carton and put them in the fridge and before I use them I'll clean it off before I crack them. Just my personal preference!

    Eek! Bird toys are SOO expensive!

    My DD's teacher buys baby toys at garage sales for them. She is pretty picky about what she buys but says they work just as good if not better than the expensive "bird" toys!

    My Roade Island Red was found dead this morning!

    I had one die without any warning or signs of illness, came out that morning to let them out and she looked like she'd died in her sleep and just fell off the roost! Sad, but does happen!

    Are your nesting boxes on the ground? I have an old metal 3 tiered one, and I found they were eating the eggs in the nests along the bottom, so I blocked those off and then they moved to the top tier and it ended my egg eating!

    Peepers - does entire flock need to wear them?

    I had them put on all my chickens when I did it. Was only going to put them on the few culprits but then the other chickens were pecking at the ones who had them on, so just did it on all of them! If you pm me, I do still have mine, I would mail them to you (I think there are 10 of them).

    Fox interrupting my walking

    After those videos, I'm going to carry my mace that's for sure!!! When I turned around on my walk to go the opposite way they did, I did keep looking back to see if they were following/coming after me and they weren't, so that was good! But it's still scary!

    I walk around our country block (4miles) 3-4days a week and the last 2 nights, I've been cut short because of a fox. Last night there were 2 of them! They are scared of me, and I of them, but I see them and turn around and head for home instead of finishing my walk. I worry about my safety...

    I alternate my dog being out at night, and my chickens being out during the day. 1week ago I let my dog out and I had this feeling, I shouldn't do it and he has yet to return home!
