Janet do you have a web site for your farm? Was curious as to your prices and strains...we're neighbors by the way...we're both on the same side of the Mississippi, lol
Good Morning Jen Scott, JimsFarmStand, Pathfinders, and all Buckeye BYCers,
Been a while since I've posted...around a year now...just made it back from an overseas deployment. It has taken several hours but have finally caught up with all the posts...I think.
Our flock is still doing great...
Would someone please tell me more about the buckeye bantams? First the particulars, how big do they get and how much room do one of these guys need? We of course have the standards...but as of late we have been getting into the OEGB..(and a trio of buff brahma bantams to use as serigate...
Our little "runt" buckeye we call Tiny was being picked on pretty good by her siblings...(they're tall enough now that she can walk under them no prob)...so anyway we removed her from the big run.
She wasn't pleased with us at first, but we "rehomed" her with seven, 8 week old pharoah quail 2...
Been in VA this week and no time to write...saw all the floods in Arkansas. Jen and Jim are you'all doing ok? Is there anything your buckeye family can do for you?

jenjscott, BYC member, lives in South East AR somewhere. You might PM her if you want to get them close and within driving distance (I got my birds from her). BuckeyeDave is in Ohio and Pathfinders is in KY...I would PM anyone of those folks for a good birds...good luck!
Good morning Mr. Dave,
I've got an empty coop/run now waiting on the chicks to arrive. Quick question, what temperatures do you stop shipping chicks at? It's been in the 90s out here the last couple of days...hopefully a cool front will come in at the last of the month so you can ship.

Hey Jim,
forgot to tell you there is a poultry auction Saturday the 4th in Newcastle near Oklahoma City if you're interested and have time. Its a little over 2 hours from Tulsa...you never know what they'll have.
Take care
It rained here last night; when I let the chicks out this morning their feet experienced a new wet feeling...I laughed so hard watching them bounce and hop around! This definitely is better than T.V.

Being an Army guy...that is darn funny
My buckeye chicks are enjoying their new freedom in the run. They're never all out at the same time, and I believe there a couple that have never been out. They do enjoy scratching for grains, and the dust baths. I did have to add yet another...

I'll definately let you know if she starts laying...It would be neat to see the off spring....which of course, you would get first pick(s).
She is pretty bold, even at her size she "pushes" the others out of the way to get to the food and water and was one of the first to venture out...
Pathfinders...here is the pic I owe you,
See, I do listen, screened window in the door and an added opening covered with rabbit wire holding a 12" fan for the added ventilation that you've suggested. Still open for additional suggestions
Jen,
Their first day out....
Notice the little one...
