My pair of embdens have a nest of 18 eggs. The first three froze and busted. So she has layed 21 eggs. She still hasnt started sitting. Did i get unlucky and end up with a goose that wont hatch her eggs? I just figured that she would have started incubating them already..
So, I am thinking about selling my entire flock and starting over with one breed. Well, I might keep one or two of my favorites.. Anyway, how many of you have done this? How did it work out for you? Any pros and/or cons? I would like to switch to a breed that lays a lot of large eggs, is cold...
Last week I found a man near me with a pair of embden geese for sale. I contacted him about the geese, but he said it was too late. He said he was taking them to Jacob's Cave Animal Auctions here in Missouri last Friday. He e-mailed me on Saturday, telling me that he ended up not taking the...
Has anyone ever done this? We have an old two door garage next to the house. We use one side of the garage for cars, tools, and equipment, but the other side was used to park the chicken coop in last winter, and that's were it has stayed. (Our coop was built on a 4 x 8 foot trailer so we could...
I have a silkie cross hen sitting on 11 duck eggs and they are due to hatch anyday now!!! The mother ducks are Pekins and the father is a Cayuga. I cant wait to see how they will turn out! Ill post pictures when they start hatching!
Well, I'll start off by saying that there is a "pair" of embden geese for sale near me. Both of the geese are 3 years old. The owner is asking $30 for the pair. I really want these geese! My last flock of geese was completely wiped out by a pack of coyotes... But I have a few questions before...
Warning, this is a rant:
So I went to the farm store on Thursday March 10th. I saw all the chicks, poults, and ducklings and I kept telling myself that I couldn't have them. Otherwise, I probably would have cleared the store of them all! But then I saw the rabbits. I had just had to have one...

I'm looking for pigeons that fly but not very much. I just need them to be able to fly up to a roost. Are there any that are to big to actually fly but can flap up to a roost or any that just fly like a chicken?
I need help on deciding what camera to get. Ive narrowed it down to two, the Sony DSC-T99 or the Sony Cyber-Shot H55. I'm liking the black cameras. The prices for both are the same at walmart. Its just so hard to choose!! So thats why I came here, to ask my fellow chicken lovers for some...
I know ducks are supposed to lay their eggs in the early morning and chickens can lay anytime of day, but what time of day do geese lay their eggs? I am also wondering if it means anything that my 5 month old female geese are checking out the nesting houses. They have seemed very interested in...
Or are they just a random mixed color? I have two of these silkie X oegb and they look almost identicle. They are the sweetest little things. They still have their chick voice. I can't wait until they're grown up! They both have fuzzy legs and toes and beards and crests. I'm not sure if their...

So today I went to one of my local parks and low and behold, a lot of domestic ducks and geese... There were about 10 geese, not one wild goose around either, and about 25-30 ducks around, A couple runner ducks with their broods, only a few that appeared to be wild mallards. Some of these birds...
I'm just curious about turkeys and want to see everyones pictures of their turkeys! I'd especcially love to see pictures of broody turkeys and turkeys with their babies! Thank you!
Breeding?!?! My chinese geese will be 4 months old at the end of June and they are already breeding! The ganders are breeding the geese and the geese are very interested in making nests and setting on the ducks nests but no goose eggs yet. It still has me very confused though as to why 4 month...
I have a frizzle hen that was given to me and she is now broody. I was wondering if she could hatch out some duck eggs? Has anyone else done this before?
