OK so piper's not his- but when we were down to just Bob (April hatch so full grown) and Piper (june hatch just a wee baby) and were introducing lucinda (april hatch houdan) i took a leap of faith and tossed Piper in with the big guys. he'd been in a kennel in the coop/run with Bob for over a...
SO my bad I never let the crew out of the coop this morning (late for work woops!) I came home to find Charlottes egg GONE. But wait Emily is sitting on an egg she's just been laying eggs again after being broody (still a fair bit broody) this past week. I grab it i candle it. CRAP nope NOT...
So our local spca has this girl n- i've been asked to see if i can find out what she is (figured you guys will know faster then i cn search it- if it doesn't have a big poofy head i'm a moron when it's breed knowledge LOL)
wow yesterday all 3 silkies laid an egg for the first time. Today no silkie eggs- but Lucinda our houdans FIRST EGG!
She hatched april of this year so just 4 months old. i'm so proud- she even went up in the coop to lay it (though not in the nest box *SIGH* no one's laid there yet...

took the roost out of the run tonight- after a week of putting them to bed. we got to the point emily (1 year old silkie hen) goes up to bed on her own- if the light is on in thecoop she'll roost- but otherwise is in the door way.
well tonight- i forgot to put their light on until after it...
well the weather wasn't helping- dark and stormy out- so not great light- but got some pics of a few of the birds- all were convinced that the camera was an alien eating my head and wouldn't come near me for the longest time- hiding under the coop- which of course ment darker lighting I need to...
Well tried gluing it again this morning- found him yesterday- seems to bug him- it can be wiggled- it's cracked down to the quick. was bleeding- stopped. I put some crazy glue on it last night- seemed to make him more comfortable then this morning he came out of the coop- went to eat and boom...
Bethenny came to us with our 3 other silkie hens we got 3 weeks ago. Her pst owner gave her to us for free as she ws not doing well- she ws very very thin- her crown was plucked so badly it was never going to grow in. We all hoped she'd thrive in a smaller number of birds- she also had a...
OK so tossing around wether my ramp is too steep- I think it is-butthen i've got several who truck on UP it and down it ok on their own- the one always slides down- but she gets rolling and flies off- (My big silkie partridge girl) but she's a bit of a hoot that way anyway the one who's always...

Well see a comb. Pippa (please be a girl) is 7 weeks now. she was half the size of her sister 2 weeks ago (sister is no longer with us) these are my abandoned at pet store in the heat chicks)

well as the title says- i got 50lbs of each. my polish and houdan are on grower. the lil chick silkie (who is older then she looks she's my runt) hs been on starter. she's 6 weeks can she move over to the grower too?
I have parrots- have for years. We always clip BOTH wings so the bird is balanced and has the same resistance/feel on both sides.
So why only ONE wing for chickens?
OK i ws understanding with the 2 week old slkies- they peep and look like squeeky toys. but today brought home bg polish guys- and you'd thnk i had some steak sitting n the kennel.
*Sigh* i was not really thinking they'd be this into them considerng I have parrots and they just ignore them...
