I work nights, and when I got home this morning, there was an egg in one of the boxes. I don't know what time it was laid, but the birds got put up around 7:30 - 8 last night. My son puts them up for me after I go to work, but he apparently didn't check for eggs. I think its my little porcelain...
I have a total of 23 chickens, 16 pullets & 7 roosters. (That's not counting my banties.) I know that is way too many cocks in the henhouse, and I plan on culling some of them. But that is where I am having my problem. Which do I keep/cull??
I ended up with 3 white Leghorn, 2 that I am now...
I would like to apologize to anyone that may have been reported by me. I get on here on my phone and it is touch screen. And I guess I have fat fingers. And I have accidentally hit the "report" button when scrolling. I have hit the stop button as quickly as possible. But don't know if it...
I had asked before about this one but he was still pretty young at the time. His name is Sam and he is definitely a little roo. He was my first to crow. And he is a bantam. Could someone please help me try to identify what breed. Will try to get some more pics (better ones) this afternoon...
I have a duck that is a little over a year old now. She has attempted to hatch several clutches of eggs to no avail. My drakes had gotten killed by, I am assuming, coyotes last Nov/Dec. Therefore, eggs aren't fertilized... Unless the wild mallards that frequent the tanks have come into my yard...
I have these little bantams I have been trying to figure out, with no luck. If anyone might be able to help me I would appreciate it. Thank you!
I am thinking the reddish one is a cochin-she has feathered feet
Here's a pic of all three-they are by the wall
Here's 2 of them-still by the wall...
We had a HUGE, but much needed rain last night... 6 inches or more. Well I still hadn't been able to completely rain proof my coop yet; planned on doing more to it this weekend. And because of that I have lost 2 of my little bantams. Unfortunatelt both were the ones my nephew picked out to...
Could someone help me identify the breeds of these chicks, please? They look very similar as far as the black and brown/reddish color, but they are different looking.
First (sorry the 2nd pic isn't the greatest)
Second (I have 4 like this)
no head on the 2nd pic but it shows the feathers on...
I got my babies' coop finished Sunday evening and moved them in. They have thoroughly been enjoying all the space. They run around and can flap their wings. Still have to make another house though for turkeys & guineas but they are sharing for now. I know it's risky with turkeys and chickens...
My little chicks are running out of space in the brooder pen. I am going to start building today on their coop and will hopefully have it finished by tomorrow at the latest, and I really need to go ahead move them when it's done. My question is would they be able to stay in it overnight. I live...
If there is somebody that can help me id these babies, I would apprciate it.
I bought 6 of these little chicks, thinking they were leghorns. But I'm not real sure. They're not much bigger than the little black & white chicks I got at the same time. They don't really eat anymore than my other...
This little one had, I am suspecting anyway, a very bad case of constipation. It had been just standing around for the last day and a half, feathers fluffed out and seemed very fatigued. The others would just walk right over the top of her. I removed her and put her by herself yesterday morning...
ok I think there may be a guinea and a turkey in there too...
These are my two oldest babies... They are a little over a year old...
This is when they were babies, along with my others that are no longer here... R.I.P. sweet birdies
Hi, my name is Lori. Just joined not too long ago. My parents and grandparents had chickens when I was a kid. And I have been wanting to get myself some for awhile now. Well, I finally did it! I have 22 total chicks (2 are bantams that belong to my nephew). I am pretty sure 12 are leghorns (6...
