I need to cull some quail, but was curious are the ones with scabs bad to eat? Should I take a chance? They are just on their heads, but no idea if they have diseases?!?!
Thanks !
Ok, I gave my buddy about 30 eggs. He says he is on day 22 and none have hatched. I am curious as to why.
He said he did open one and it was fully developed. Could it be lack of humidity?
Some of my quail are bleeding and missing feathers from their heads. I am certain this is from fighting. I have no other pen to put them in. Should I just eat them? That sounds crazy, haha.
Lost for what to do here. I honestly thought some of them were female quail, but I guess I better...
Now what do I do with them (eggs)
If I want to eat them is there anything I need to do first? If I want to hatch them what do I need to do first?
Thanks.
Does this mean eggs are soon to come? Hope so.
I think I have more male than females, which sucks but I am hoping to change that number when they start laying eggs!
Hey guys.. My chicks are just about 3 weeks. Can I start moving them to a pin? They are getting cramped in there tote, and I rather not buy a second brooder if I dont have too. What do you guys think?
I ordered instructions from Renegade Ridge on how to build breeder pens. I didnt realize it was for breeding, witch I am fine with. In the instructions in mentioned that I should build a recall pen, if using for breeding pen.
1. My chicks are going on 2 weeks. Will it be ok to put them in...
I can't believe how quick these guys have grown. I take that back, they have been eating like nobodies business. I have paper towels down now, but I read to go to something different like shavings or sand.
My question is, the litte poops poop and make hella messes. What have yall found...
Ok, Here are a few pics. They seem to be going outside of the light. Does this look right?
I am using a 60 watt bulb at the moment. Should I go to 40?
EDIT...
Ok, now they are cuddling under the bulb. My daughter pulled one out of the food jar so took the hood off.
I am sorry for posting so many questions.
I have read 12 and 24 hours. I have also read when they are dry which takes a couple hours.
The issue is it has been about 4 and they are still fairly wet. Is it possibly too humid? Any help will be great!
A couple of questions. I had a friend offer to pay fair market value for me to raise around 500 quail for him to release on his property for hunting.
1. What type of quail?
2. What age should I sell them?
3. A good way to figure out the value?
Could anyone help me out with these questions?
I found two rotten eggs about 4 days ago, and another one today. Being day 9. I opened the egg to find nothing but rotten liquid. Should I be worried that I am doing something wrong, or is this normal?
I am so excited. I ordered 25 from Andrew, and I ended up with 55. I think I had one or two cracked eggs and that was it. It was quick too.
I cannot wait to see what I get! Thanks Andrew!
I see a lot of folks buying hatching eggs from others online. I am assuming if they are sent it takes a few days. What is the time period one has between the time they are laid until they go into the incubator?
Thanks!
I am a photographer as a civilian and for the military. Needless to say, I look at many photos. One day I came across a picture story of quail fighting in afghanistan. I thought this was odd. I google searched and didn't find much but some videos.
Are this full grown quail? What type are...
