I have a hen (SLW) that is no longer laying (for over a year) who has been lethargic lately. I knew her time was coming, as she's an old girl and had a good life.
She sleeps on the floor of the coop instead of the perch, and sometimes lays down to eat.
Today I was feeding her from my hand and...

Hi :( even though turkeys are known for perching, roosting and flying- this little guy failed at all three and fell of a perch (4 ft in the air) and broke his humerus. He is about 3 months old, a blue slate and he is my flipping buddy- his name is Duke.
His wing will not stay braced and the vet...
I have (had) two broody Serama hens that were collectively laying on 8 eggs. All but one hatched on time..the last little guy was two days behind and "moms" were already out with the other 7 on the pasture (with our mixed flock...everything from large Wyandottes to a frizzle Cochin bantam ALSO...
My year old serama hen is broody for the first time and her egg is "scheduled" to hatch today:)
This is my first time letting a broody hen hatch an egg..thought we were all done with chicks...never!
Any advice for letting the hen raise her own chick?
Thanks so much!
PLEASE HELP. I am looking to re-home three adult Serama cockerels. They have lived together for nearly the last year and 2 of them recently started to fight so are being housed separate. They are both great with their hens and other roos, they only seem to hate each other so I would prefer them...
Bummer:(
I went in with snacks this morning to find that my 2 week old chicks seemed to have killed my 3 week old serama chick. I am 99% sure I know the culprit. I have a 2 week old Mille fleur d'uccle Bantam, a black frizzle cochin bantam and the serama. My mille fleur has always been a bit of...
I have 2 week old serama chicks and some 2 week old quail chicks, and I (due to other animals I have) have one room in my house that stays a constant 84 degrees. Am I okay for them to be in here without a lamp due to the heat?
no one huddles together, so temperature wise they SEEM to be okay.
I...
Are they generally late bloomers or does this seem a little behind?
she is a 6/2/11 hatch. I have a wyandotte born the same week that has been laying for almost 2 months!
my husband just says she's a hawk with a disguise beard hanging around for free meals. What the heck, lady- COME ON!!!
I am at work so can not post a picture. This is the first time I've seen this happen and don't know if it is normal or what to do. The outer shell is completely broken but it's like she's stuck inside the inner membrane. She has not poked any holes in it. Is this something she will hatch from...
Hi, before I go anywhere and look like an idiot, I'd like to ask this first. If my birds ever end up sick (need antibiotics, etc.) where do I get that?
Do i really have to go to the vet and have her tell me to bring my chickens in, or is there a place I can get meds for poultry without the huge...
Okay, so i think this is pretty simple but to be honest im tired of searching for someone that asked the same question.
I have one egg in my incubator right now... because i had 12 serama eggs shipped and when none developed and were supposed to be "guaranteed fertile" i was accused of having a...
I have to get rid of my 2 amazing ducks. They are both BLUE SWEDE drakes and are attempting to mate my chickens which could seriously hurt/kill them.
The two are an amazing pair. One was attacked my raccoons about 2 months ago and nearly died. He spent 2 days in the hospital. He had a broken...
Sorry about the night picture, but its all i had.
I put this together last year (so i know it isnt going to burn the whole neighborhood down haha.)
The chiminea even after burning 3 hours is still able to be touched by hand so it doesnt get THAT hot, just enough to warm up the chippies.
the...
So before I bought my Reptipro 5000, I decided I would not do so without an egg turner, WHICH THEY DO MAKE FOR THE REPTIPRO 5000.
On the Reptipro website the turner and incubator totals $314 I decided to look at ebay (of course.)
I found (from Reptipro) an incubator/turner combo auction for...
Hi, I have 12 eggs in my incubator right now and upon candling them on day 9, have only 4 that seem to be developing. I was wonder if i can candle them every day or if there is a safe amount to candle...
Hi, I have 3 chickens (hens) and recently decided to add some ducks (all about a month old.) We know that we aren't going to have a problem with ducks crowing like with chickens, but didnt really consider problems we may have with drakes. Are there any issues we should expect with a drake that...
