You can use frontline, but consuming eggs from the hens gets a bit hazy from a legality standpoint. I would feel safe eating them myself but any unlabeled use of a product on a laying hen means lawfully you cannot sell the eggs for consumption for 30 days which is why I do not use frontline.
Finally the cockeral. I have two of them that have very good frame size, but we will see how much meat they put on the bones. I haven't measured the cockerals height, but I will try to tonight.
I should also mention and apologize for the crest feathers being cut. I cut them during the winter...
I have a bunch of polish chicks from Duane right now that I am looking to get sold. Lots of whites, goldens and buffs. I think the buffs are really pretty when done right and the goldens are definitely eye catchers.
I have a variety of show quality chicks for sale. Duane Urch lines and ages range from 6 weeks to 2 weeks old. I can ship for you, I have boxes set up and ready to go.
Current inventory is as follows:
Large Fowl
Polish in white, buff, silver, golden, and a few white crested blacks. Muffed...
How many of the Giant Cochin and Orp people brag about 200+ eggs a year? No doubt that some breeds are more fertile than others but you definitely start to have some issues with fertility when breeds get over a certain size and/or shape.
Another reason for the "awesome" comment:

Lay well
4-Hers can show them as breeding birds, layers, pullets, or fryers
Color really good
Fertility is decent, which is/can be a major problem in any breed that is extreme
All those are from my experiences with his...
His Buckeyes do have adequate size, you must remember Duane is a breeder first and a shower 2nd. He doesn't push his breeder birds like you would show birds because that decreases their egg productivity. Also I believe when she was saying they are pretty awesome that means they are pretty good...
Red heat lamps can help prevent picking, but my brooder traps heat since it has a low head space so they really don't require supplemental heat. I am trying to figure out if I can use heat tape for water lines to add some supplemental heat.

I make it dark with minimal lighting by food and water. It this works really well and after a few weeks you can increase the light. Or you can increase the space and have space for stuff to hide.
I agree that darker male is nicer than the red faced male. I do like the amount of body on the red faced male though. The hen has a pretty steep tail angle, her back should be a bit longer and I would like to see overall more body to her. That being said it is worth taking them out and...
