I am pregnant and have had numerous people questioning me on whether or not i should be cleaning my chicken coop? Not so much cause the weight of the shovel but the "feces". Just wondering.
My doctor didn't seem that worried about it but curious as to what everyone thinks.
My girls seem to be slacking. I have the light in the coop on so they are getting 14 hours of light a day. They have plenty of food and water available at all times. I'm only geting 1 egg a day from 7 hens or 2 if i'm lucky. Don't understand why they aren't laying more. There has been no...
My girls are wasting alot of food lately. Any ideas of how to stop the waste of food. I tried putting it outside so they could pick at it and they still wasted quite a bit . don't know what to do any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

So today as I was removing my chickens to the outside run (as they won't go outside if they see snow:yiipchick) so i could clean out the coop, one of my rhode island reds look like she had a runny nose.....do chickens get runny noses??? What could this mean??? Could this have anything to do...
i need protein ideas for my girls (aka my chickens). I was using country max feed but egg production really dropped and I think it was cause they weren't getting enough protein. they were on a food from a local mill before and was getting lots of eggs. i am switching them slowly over to the...
So back in the summer my egg production dropped. I took it as normal since i had two broodies out of seven. I have 7 chickens all together, 5 bo's and 2 RIR's. But at the same time, I started to buy the country max layer crumbles/mash. Right around the same time as switching them to the...
OK, so i now have two broody girls. One has been broody for close to 3 months and one just for two weeks. I would like to break both. I've tried putting ice packs under them thinking they wouldn't like the cold but that didn't phase them. Putting chicks under them is not an option cause I...
Iwas talking with a lady i give eggs to today and she says some of my eggs have had blood spots in them. She said in her experience she has only had bloodspots in eggs when there are roosters present. Here is the thing, all my chickens are hens. I have no roosters! (at least i don't think...
Ok, So tonight my buff has laid her 3rd or 4th egg, and it was speckled on the outside. None of my eggs from her or my rhodies have been speckled. Is this normal? The inside of the egg looked normal.
I know I need to be patient but are buff orps really late on starting to lay eggs?
Mine are 25. About two weeks ago i got 4 eggs in one day and I'm pretty sure they were not from my two RIR's because they lay in the back corner of the nest. Two eggs were there in the morning, then that same...
My girls have a tendencyto put alot of food on the floor while they are eating. I was just wondering if there were ways to stop so much of the food from being wasted. They aren't really eating the food off the ground either. I'm getting tired of my money on food for my girls going to waste.
I got 2-4 hens laying, they are all laying in the back corner of the coop and not in the nest boxes. Ok, I can deal with that, but twice now i have found eggs buried in the shavings.
Is it normal for them to bury the eggs in the shavings especially if they are all using the same spot? Are...
I have one hen that is pecking her eggs. First I thought maybe becuase they had a soft shell. Nope that's not it. I have three girls laying. The other two seem to be leaving their eggs alone afterwards. They also have oyster shell available to them. They have been laying for about 2 weeks...
First, My hubby found egg shells in the coop the other night. I got home from work today to find 1 egg that was broken because they were pecking at it and two eggs that were fine.
Two have been laying for a week with no previous problems with egg eating till the other day. Today a third...
