Anybody posting from Corpus. I want to take my son on a special trip. Just my Sr boy and me to corpus at Thanksgiving and go fishing. any recommendations for a family on a budget?
BTW I have some hatchery quality silver laced wyandottes that are prettier than my chicken friends breeder birds from a show person. I don't think its the norm but it does happen.
I choose to feed fermented feed. I think it benefits my birds as well as meat and eggs. I gave my best friend a flock from my flock and she chooses to feed dry. She feeds good feed and it works for her. Her little flock suits her families needs. I believe each to his own. There are lots of ways...
I sell my extra eggs for $3 here in dry west texas. I have started attending a new church and am not that familiar with pastor or his family. I took 2 18 packs to the pastors wife sunday. In our conversation she told me they have 7 children. Well, my meager gift may only be one breakfast!!!!!!
I feel this way completely. I breed some nice chickens. I want them to be good sturdy survivors for our area no matter how rare the breed. I don't raise and sell wimps that won't survive in our Texas weather.
mine is just my first 2 initials and my last name that I have since changed anyway (back to Maiden name). Boring but it was late. Probably the only thing boring about me!
I don't post much but tendency is to be bat poop crazy!

Sold some Marans babies to a nice Philipino family the other day. This is notable since I live in the middle of nowhere and there is little racial diversity. He was telling me about chickens in the philipinnes and how they raise them. He wants to try the 'merican way. He is fascinated by...
My advice is go and have a great time. Deal with it when you get home. That will definitely keep your hands and mind off of whats going on in the bator. You can remove chicks or yuck eggs when you return. They don't usually hatch at an exact time and sometimes not even on the expected day. They...
I candle about 10 days and again at lockdown. Other than that I leave them be except adding water as necessary. always take a wiff when adding water in case you get a stinky egg. Sometimes, we just try too hard.
The sweet spot for me is 45% until lockdown, 65% at lockdown. I have always laid my eggs down and can't really speak for the carton method since I Have never tried it. Remember shipped eggs are notoriously disappointing. I still try though.
