Day 22 here & no chicks under the broodies. I stole an egg from one of them & candled it though; & I could see the chick moving around in the air cell. Gave it back to the hen so hopefully something will hatch soon! oops, meant to post this in the April hatch a long but I’ll leave it here anyway 😅

Well I had a big die off early on; lots of blood rings. But the 7 that made it into lockdown were active & seemed fine. Not really sure what happened but I guess I will open them up tonight & see what they look like.

I only have one thermometer; there was definitely something going on with the temps. I suspect more that it was too high temps because the one pip I had was 2 days early (did not make it).

I candled but didn’t see any movement. A couple still have veins though, does that mean they are still alive?

None of mine hatched. Day 23 here. 😢 I hope your hatch goes better! It would be so sad if yours didn’t hatch after all they have been through.

The only thing different was that I had the incubator on the floor for the first half. Seems like it affected the temperature somehow🤷‍♀️

Day 22 here, no pips. I have a feeling nothing will hatch. I’m not sure what went wrong with this hatch but something clearly did. Half the eggs quit early on & out of 7 eggs that made it to lockdown none have hatched. 😢 Oh well, I will try again & hope to have a good hatch next time like I had...

Sadly my wrong end pip died in the night.😢 Day 21 today but no more pips yet. Hope these chicks get busy soon!

I got a pip, Day 20 but it’s at the wrong end. My last hatch I had a wrong end pip and assisted, but it had birth defects & died, so this time I am planning to leave it alone & see if it can get out on its own.

Cute chick! I have a chick that’s a buff orp/ Swedish flower cross & he looks very similar to yours. This was him at a few days old (on the left).

Checked on the broodies today & found another egg pushed away from the nest. It was cold but I candled it & saw some veins, so I threw it in the incubator. If it hatches I can give it back to the hens. They might be fighting over the eggs because one hen seems to be sitting on all of them...

He stands in the coop all day next to the broody hens 😂

Well the end is in sight here. I am down to about 5 eggs with veining in the incubator so I guess I will end up with a couple of chicks at least. Time to figure out what I will be using for a brooder! The 2 broody hens and the broody rooster are not doing the best job. I checked on them...

I have probably done about 20 hatches at this point and in every case but one, the first chick to hatch was a cockerel.
