Quail eggs will go in Monday so everyone hatches together. I already have 79 collected & get 4-6 each day so should have 90-100 to set...

All of the feed mills in my area carry it. You just have to ask for it. Distiller's grain is the byproduct of making ethanol for gasoline.

At about $6.50 for 50 pounds, distiller's is far cheaper.

You're right. I went & looked it up. It can still be boosted with distiller's to make a higher protein mix.

Flock Raiser is only 18%. I never use medicated feed either. Distiller's grain (25% protein) can be mixed with any feed as a protein booster but works best fermented or in a wet mash since it's a powder. I have a couple places around here that carry 21-24% protein feeds, but they are expensive &...

That sucks! I wish I had another for you with that coloring. It's possible, but pretty sure this was 1 from my olive egger girl. She is part barred, part laced. We get a chick looking similar to her a couple times a year & always from an olive egg. I have some really heavy bodied barred roos...

Missed about 1100 posts. MCC thought I dropped off the face of the earth so I figured I better stop by to let ya know I'm still alive. Things are just really busy around here trying to winterize coops & butcher birds. My freezer is slowly filling. If anyone is looking to move to southeast...
