Coronavirus, Covid 19 Discussion and How It Has Affected Your Daily Life Chat Thread

Same where we are as @LittleBrownie. I'm grateful everyone is still wearing their masks and social distancing. Even though I was lucky to get my first vaccine shot, I will still mask and social distance until the majority of people in my area can get a vaccine. I wear a seatbelt, don't...

Our kids are the same ages! I'm so happy to know you're also enjoying time at home with them (I love how you compared it to winning the lottery). Having all these months to spend with my high school senior really helps offset the sadness I feel trickling in as she prepares for college and...

Coronavirus, Covid 19 Discussion and How It Has Affected Your Daily Life Chat Thread

Our lives were definitely like that before the pandemic... rushing home from work, getting the kids ready for their hectic after-school practices, pulling stuff out of the pantry only to have dinner on the table right before bedtime LOL. I'm definitely less productive at work now, but I know...

Coronavirus, Covid 19 Discussion and How It Has Affected Your Daily Life Chat Thread

My heart goes out to everyone who has lost a loved one, contracted Covid (and those who are "long haulers"), lost a job, had to work in public in places that are mask-unfriendly, had children dealing with online school, suffered through loneliness, etc. That said, I'm also glad there are...

Just writing to offer empathy and sending good thoughts to you. I'm very fortunate to work from home, so deeply appreciate those of you who work in public places and have to deal with hostility from people willing to put your life in danger, through not wearing masks or threatening violence...

@h2oratt, @Molpet , and @cheepteach : Wearing a mask while exercising outside is a conundrum! When the pandemic started and we really didn't know how far and long droplets stayed in the air, I would wear my mask 100% of the time while biking and running, even in 100+ heat on mountain roads and...

Congratulations and thanks for the heads up about your second shot! I'm sorry you had so many side effects though. My sense, too, is that cases of the common cold and the "regular" flu are down this year, just from observation. I've spent a bit of time in Asia, especially Japan, and people...

Thank you for serving as a healthcare worker on a Covid unit! And sorry you haven't been able to get on the vaccine waiting list. Hope you are able to get your first dose soon since you are in two of the first tier categories.

LOL... it's so hard to avoid judging in the future about anything! With all that is known/unknown about this virus and as a single parent with no family close by, I also just can't afford (in every possible sense of that word) to get sick or have sick kids. And, I realize that I may be strange...

I regularly do because I wear a wear a cloth mask with ties over an N95 (sometimes with a face shield, too) when I go out. It takes a while to get all of that on and, because I'm slightly vain, I like my hair to look as neat as possible if I need to run an errand. Lyft drivers tell me they...

Yes, absolutely! And I'm really, really glad the vaccines started with the older population and healthcare workers. I'm happy to wait my turn while others who are at greater risk, immunocompromised, older, essential workers, etc. get theirs. What a relief that there's a vaccine! I just wish...

Good to know! I've been using a Burt's Bees lotion that smells good, but isn't very effective. On a different note, great news that so many folks on here are able to get Covid vaccines! I'm glad there's a tiered system to get the vaccine to older folks, essential workers, etc., but will be...

Me, too, but even just the post-grocery store runs and occasional sanitizer use in the kitchen dries my hands out. Of the many, many things to look forward to post-pandemic, not needing to use hand sanitizer is one of them.

Anybody else out there with hands so rough you could sand down a wood countertop? I'm washing my hands as often as I did pre-Covid, but this constant hand sanitizer use has me snagging my clothes with my new farm worker's hands :( Wow... 30-45 seconds? Did the chef recommend using hand...

The bun is the only way to go 😂 ! In the early days of the pandemic, I wore a cloth mask under a rubber Halloween fox mask to mortify my kids and scare the chickens, but that presented both a breathing, seeing, and bad hair day problem. I guess the upshot is the prodigious amounts of money...

Masks are much less effective if they're poor fitting or worn improperly (especially for folks with certain high risk factors that make them more susceptible). Just like rinsing hands with water is less effective than washing hands for twenty seconds with soap in water as hot as one can handle.

My guess is that there's more research now on the transmissibility of the virus (single layers must not be that effective with the numbers of cases and deaths), many people wear super loose fitting masks that leave all the sides relatively open, and the CDC and other organizations are worried...
