My Chicken Coop
This 20 ft dog concrete paved dog run was the base for my new coop (May 2010):
It has a full-sized chain-link door, a concrete foundation, a chain-link roof, and perfectly good supports. The dog kennel frame is made of steel angle iron with pre-drilled holes.
Here's what I...
Our Playhouse Coop
After we hatched our chickens, we knew that we needed to get working on a coop for them, since they grow quickly. Initially we were going to build a smaller tractor coop, but we ended up needing more space than that. So we decided to convert a playhouse from a swingset...

We started this journey as a way to become more food self sufficient . This has been such a busy spring that has presented with a huge learning curve . We had both been around chickens when we were younger but their upkeep etc was all new. We have built 2 coops , our main coop which is 8x8 that...
Coop in the Woods
This is a coop I made thanks to all of the forum help and BYC resources. I spent a great deal of time looking at the Coop Pages before I started building my own. It is made from materials salvaged from a porch which was removed from our house and a few new parts. I wanted one...
My coop/poultry barn is built almost entirely of recycled materials. It is not very pretty but it is functional. The base is a heavy oak shipping pallet, the frame is 2X4s and 4X4s from our old pool deck, the siding is flakeboard from shipping pallets, the doors are from scrap lumbers, the nest...

Started on framing and got the floor down today. There was a bit of framing stupidity due to me dropping the level of the floor. I just need to scab it out some to support the back wall. Not a big issue. I gave the bottom of the OSB a coat...

Run 8 X 20
Run Door
Here is the tool I made to stretch the chicken wire
You attach the wire on the top of the run board, then hook the four nails on the tool in the wire at the bottom and put your knee on it pulling the wire tight and holding it as you staple it. It made it go ALOT faster!
