they have only been getting the mealworms at treat time same as the other birds.....the feed is free choice and i’ve also tried handfeeding them the feed but they will actually spit it out!! i kinda equate it to giving a baby fruit baby food and then expecting them to eat veggies! Is it possible to stop the mealworms? I would think if they had no other choice they would be forced to eat the food. But idk. Otherwise could you possibly wet it or mix something in it or anything? Obviously I don’t have turkeys so no experience there which is why you’re asking Elk but I am assuming no animal would be dumb enough to starve themselves so if they didn’t have a choice I would think they would eat the feed.
Otherwise maybe take it away a while and only bring it out once or twice a day? Maybe not having it available all the time would make it “special.”
But these are all just guesses since I don’t have turkeys. I’m sure Elk will probably have better suggestions.

the raspberry glaze was 1/4 c pinot grigio,1/4 c port (we used a red instead) a splash of raspberry wine, fresh raspberries, 1/4c raspberry preserves, 1/2 stick butter, 1/8 c shallots, squirt dijon mustard......
pan sear the brined quail in olive oil with salt and pepper, fresh thyme and then sautée desired veggies in same pan
blanch potatoes and then fry in butter and olive oil with a bit of green and red pepper seasoned to taste
yes most of the alcohol cooks down like in most recipes but of course we drink up the leftovers while cookingThanks! I’ll do that. I found some premade/commercial ones for sale but making it myself probably tastes better??
And thanks for all the info!! That sounds delicious!!!
Although, probably a stupid question, but does the wine cook off? Cause I don’t drink and don’t wanna get drunk off it![]()
but also don’t know if I’d like a super strong wine taste lol

If they are heritage poults, they won't really start putting on weight until after they are 6 months old.@R2elk....my poults are way too picky!! They will hardly eat anything other than mealworms!! They are constantly starving and while they are growing, they are not putting on weight like I think they should be!!!! Any suggestions on how to get them to eat balanced feed??? Currently using nutriena nature’s best meatbird crumble
Don't assume anything. Young turkeys have been known to starve themselves to death. Normally they are much younger than the ones that muddy has but it can happen.I am assuming no animal would be dumb enough to starve themselves so if they didn’t have a choice I would think they would eat the feed.
