I haven't been blessed with one to fix yet but I don't think I would try.

I won’t try again...... Ours were my fault. I put a layer of shavings down that was too thin and they slipped on the plastic tote quite a bit.

If your hatch rates are good, I wouldn’t change anything now.

Lol I got 8 out of 10 on the weekend. One day I maybe up to a hatch like yours.

A day early or a day later isn’t important. They just need to not be crushed by the turner.

Informal survey of the 9 Batch #1. Conclusion was I have no idea what I'm looking for at 2 weeks of age. Best guess was 4 boys and 5 girls but they all have speckled chest feathers still. The 4 have reddish markings under their chins. Blush at best. Am I supposed to look for anything else?

I say give them a little more time there rust color should be coming in if not already. The female will have more of a speckled look. And if not standard quail you can vent sex them. Turn them over and the male will have sort of a bulb above the vent and if you strike it upwards you should see a white foam.

I think I have 2 boys and 7 girls in one cage and 3 to 5 boys 5 girls in the other.

Yep. Just a little red under the chin. A light blush. I'm not in a hurry. 2 more weeks and I'll be looking at Batch #2 also.
