We were technically allowed to bring sleeping bags but urged not to use them except as last resort, and I was dragged from my cozy warm shelter and fire after packing a 9 lb synthetic bag on snowshoes never having gotten a chance to reward myself and tuck into it in the wee hours >.<

It was....a really mixed class overall, both the instruction and the field part.

It's true, in winter up here that'd be 10,000x worth it. Nothing we haven't done accidentally already Couldn't get all the way into our fricking driveway last night after my bf had to come pick me up unexpectedly, and we have 4wd with snow tires!

Your babies also look great Kiki! I saw that you got a tuxedo in there, right? Keeping that one this time or headed for the BBQ?

Once I regain use of my dominant hand I also have some butchering to do, very excited to eat the suckers, they have gotten very loud in their attempts to call more girls to the party.

Thank you! I am typing everything with my pinky at the moment >.< If it were one degree more severe I would have gone to the ER but as is they can't really do anything - they're all just going to hurt for a day and then get firm and then peel and then they should be fine. Good lesson in how hard it is to feel anything in that degree of cold, though. I've got a horrible blood blister and a deeply dented thumbnail on the same hand and I couldn't tell anything until I got home

I am a chronically chilly chick with made it feel more important to know what to do if we got stranded on a day trip in the winter or lost equipment. I think I would have been fine if I'd actually been given time to dry out my gloves overnight instead of being marched out at midnight in time by our military instructor to warm people up. It was also less than six foot visibility with 6-8 foot drifts so it took, like, an hour and a half to go a half mile.

My plan worked, though! The peeps! They needed me to get home in time for lockdown!
