I think the solid grey feathers are really pretty!

Yeah, I would call the one in that picture laced with the obvious feather banding whereas with my avatar bird, even though his overall appearance is mottled, most every individual feather is one solid shade.

Yup! They can look the same but have different genes causing it. Like with recessive white, dotted white, dominant white, recessive silver and dominant lethal silver, etc.

Actually, that's not totally true, some of his breast feathers have black splotches. But the overall effect is really different than the sort of tricolor banding. I bred him to a pharoah and got a few that looked like him and a few lacies and one exactly in between.

It's not running right now! We had it across just the one door while we were gone last week but haven't gotten the whole perimeter yanked out of the ice melt and re set yet (it's the temporary flimsy kind, but it works).

But yes, everyone is safe They got firecrackers tossed in their general direction and bolted across the street.
