➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Yep, 1st pic I'm pretty sure it's a male,View attachment 1703068
the 3rd pic 'might' be a female...I think I see a few buff colored feathers coming in, lighter colored cap feathers, too View attachment 1703074 plus, the 'pose' is very indicative of a female. ...within a month, you should be able to tell them apart...at this stage, it's just really hard to tell female from male.
I’m excited to learn male and female behavior. I can tell in ducks after a couple weeks now. So hopefully I’ll learn to see differences in the quail too.

:lau Crest feathers in a duck are on the head. So that can’t be it.... what are crest feathers?
Crest feathers are on top of a birds head, whether it's a duck, goose, pheasant, crane, sparrow...etc. the top of the head is known as the crest. I just call it the cap sonetimes.

I keep it at 30!
60 freaks me out.
wow! 30 through lockdown?? I’ve definitely been too high then! the house is 35% right now and I’ve been keeping 35-45 range first 14 and looking good going into lockdown. but during lockdown have been in 60’s. so methinks i’ve drowned the poor babies that are late to the party more than shrink wrapping them.

No no no...30 throughout.
Lockdown I don't worry about raising it too much.
I think the first time I only raised it to about 45.
This last time I raised it to 50.
