➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

6.80 grams. Good idea, I've never weighted a quail :) I will weight the other babies tomorrow to compare. Thank you
Pictures attached.

Yes, I did add boiled mashed eggs, the others like it, that one - not interested in eating. I will try yoghurt tomorrow, but I've tried before with other quail and they didn't like it. The baby is alive and walking BTW. Just sleeping all the time and not eating. I am not sure about nutridrench, will check tomorrow...Bed time now.

Adorable! I just went through this with a duckling that I assisted, and like yours, mine wouldn't drink or eat either. What I have learned from caring for sick birds is that they *must* have fluids before food, always, no exceptions, and I found it best to give fluids until you see two poops from them, then you can give food. If you're worried about blood sugar levels, give something like Gatorade or Pedialyte.

With my duckling I spent two whole days giving it Gatorade and once it was properly warm and hydrated it started to eat on it's own.

Avoid red gatorade. You may cause yourself undo stress if the bird poops red and you think it's blood. We actually learned this tip from being parents with a sick child. No parent wants to see red or green vomit, so we avoid those colors of gatorade or pedialite when DS (and, in the future, DD-to-be) gets sick.

Hopefully he can!! Or you should. :D

Yes definitely move to a farm :lau

It looks like I may have an excuse to hatch another batch. I have someone who wants to buy a small flock (1 rooster, 3 hens). It sounds like $5/bird is the going rate, so that's what I'm charging.
Well, you'll have to hatch at least 7-8 (round to 10) chicks to ensure 3 hens. Assume 60% hatch rate just to be safe. So you better set at least 20 eggs.
