How did this happen? Yellow from a Tuxedo and Pharaoh? I have two of these.

The tuxedo gene comes from a white bird when outcrossed against the wild type it made Italian i think.

Not good with genetics but i know the bit about ththe tuxedo is true

I kept it low BUT I tried that thing with having eggs at Lockdown and hatching in one half of the incubator and other eggs still turning in the other half of the incubator. So for a few days while the eggs in Lockdown and hatching, the humidity was around 60. It was only for 5 days - Lockdown+hatching, but this may have affected the other eggs which were still turning (they were around day 10). That's ok, I'll really try dry hatch next time.

Almost two weeks old and it looks like all they lack are head and chest feathers

Mine usually start flying at two weeks.

Would you be able to explain that again please? I know the grandmother on the father's side, i.e. Tuxedo's mother was pure white and she looked like a Jumbo size. The grandfather on father's side, I.e. Tuxedo's father was either Golden Manchurian (aka Italian) OR a wildtype (Pharaoh) as these were the only males available.

Ok, so you think these two yellow will turn white (which comes from the father Tuxedo)... Except they have stripes. I've never seen a white with stripes.

Yes ma'am the stripes are also something that will be grown out of, just like how the wild type is striped as a baby.

Im sorry im really not that good with genetics. I study and study and almost nothing sticks. i wish I could be more helpful but i am sure the white is neccessary to create the tuxedo pattern. Not exactly sure how the square lines up furthure but that backwards striping looks like an Italian chick to me.

So I collected some eggs today before they were laid....they were fully formed but had not finished the “paint process” yet. They were solid bluish color....guessing from the hens that inside color of shell is blue!!! I added them to the collection going into incubator for HAL

Today must be one of those days where everyone has “other stuff” going on ie housework etc cuz it’s been quiet here!!!! Offed 15 quail today because couldn’t go hunting due to weather forecast.....hopefully rain stops and we get to go tomorrow!
