Yes...I cut up Dollar store baskets.

I’m going to look when I get a chance. They love their milk crate. They run in and out all day long. They are my favorite I can’t lie. Even that white one I didn’t like is becoming my fave.

Now let’s hope I have only 1 male.

I thought so!! That’s such a good idea. You could buy like a million for the price of one of those hides at the pet stores.

Do you just put them upside down and cut an entry hole in it?

Do you get the baskets with the holes in them or solid or it doesn’t matter?

Also... random question I’ve been wondering for forever but have been too embarrassed to ask.... where do they lay the eggs? Like how do you collect them? Do they just lay all over the cage/aviary or in one spot or??? If I remember right, they don’t lay in a nest box like chickens do, right? So where do they lay???

Think where ever they want to lay on the ground or in the cage. Mine should start laying in a few weeks. I’ll tell you where they lay once they do.

Well shouldn’t be too hard when people put them in a cage. Mine aviary isn’t massive it’s 8 ft x 8ft so it’s a smaller area than my 7,000 sq ft chicken run (it’ll be 10,000 after this weekend we got more fencing).

It was an old one that was in our shed from the previous people. I haven’t seen them sold anywhere but I’ll keep looking. I have a green box almost like it that I might use except it has no holes.

True!! Cages are probably easier but aviary is a bit harder lol but yours isn’t too massive so should be good haha do your chickens usually lay in the coop or are they naughty!?

Ah I see. That sucks! That would probably work though!! And I think I’ve seen similar at Walmart too. It’s not labeled milk crate though. It’d be like storage. I believe either in the storage/home section or maybe even the office section? Feel like I’ve seen them there lol they’re not quite exactly the same though and not labeled milk but definitely very similar. Hard plastic box with the same or similar type holes/lattice/etc.

I’ll have to look the next time I’m in there which will be forever from now. I am staying away from the public right now.

And I totally know how you feel!! That’s what happened to me too when I had all those boys lol they started crowing up a storm right around 4 months particularly two.

Jack is quiet as a little church mouse lol
