Any guess on what color Solo the Silkie is? Happy Update :)

ercky&perky :

How do you tame your chicks? when mine see me they get alarmed they are just getting their feathers in now so they are still small.
But scared when they see my hand coming to them and when I hold them they try to escape?

I started to hand feed treats like oat meal crumbled and small cut up pieces of grass to them by the time they were 3 weeks old then after a few days they are used to your hand then you can pick them up... they always squeek but if you do it often enough they will cuddle in your arms...

Thanks for the advice I want them friendly and trustful hopefully when they join my free range crew they wont become strangers again I'll start handling them now protests or not:D

We have a big brooder and the kids actually go in and sit with food in their hands. Very quickly the chicks warm up to them. Despite this, most of the 'grown ups' still run away from us. Solo runs to our hands because we are all she has right now.....

although a nice bycer is giving us some hatchlings so Solo has some pals. I will get them Wednesday. Thanks Krista!

ercky. Our free rangers love treats. Their favorite is pizza leftovers I grind up in the cuisinart. They come running!

jennifer thank you for the welcoming, I'm starting to love this site where all silkie people can unite and share photos, stories and advice.
