BUMPING GARDENS

I ran out between the rain storms and checked the beds

my peas are sprouting and I planted some of the following
spinach
New Zealand Spinach (anyone grow this I have no idea, never tried it and may have put it in the ground too soon?)
mixed colored carrots and some purple haze carrots
watermellon radishes
beets golden and red

all my bulbs are poking through and my onions and garlic are doing great

parsley has made a comback and the broccoli rabe and escarole seem to be coming back as well ( I planted more just in case!)

it has been strange weather here but was warm yesterday

I moved my seedling greenhouse outside and am ready to start my next round of starts when those go into the garden ..I will start the beans, corn and sunflowers (I buy tomato plants..there is a place near by that has the best variety of big hardy plants ..I gave up on starting my own it is just not worth it when this nursery is so cheap and great!)

this morning I let the dogs out and it is snowing

enough already!!!!

I was trying to figure out the seed swap thread but have no clue how to join in (maybe I should ask huh?)

I want to plant one raised bed for cut flowers and am not sure what to plant I like fragrant and perennial any ideas?

what is going on for you guys in your gardens ? spring for you yet?

I am getting antsy to be out in the garden too but we still have lots and lots of snow and the ground is still frozen

I already have a tentative order w/springhill nursery (i keep editing it and waiting on more sales to come) My flower beds didnt get much work last year due to my fibro & work stress. This year I plan to catch up and get them back in shape.

My veggie garden will include more than just tomatoes this year since I am not working off the farm. I haven't decided yet what all to plant and we will have to fence it in this year. The chickens will be out and last year they didnt bother too many tomatoes but I am not giving them a chance!!!

I want to get out there and work but it has not stopped raining in 3 days. My front of the house bed is a big and I mean big 70' by 20' rose and perennials bed. Hubby wants to rototill the veggi garden again rain is the fault. We do have our tomatoes started though some Big Mamas I plan to make sauce out of. Good new is our daffodills did come up this year after we planted them from where we took them out in the woods.

lol, I got about half my veggie garden tilled and then it started raining and temps dropped back down to 45-50s.. it was 80 last Wednesday!

I guess we need the rain though. So I won't complain too much. It's good for the garden right?

Really looking forward to seeing how my small bulb garden will do this year, greens are poking up through the mulch, now to see which ones survived the dang cat's digging around in there!

Hopefully he didn't dig too far down...

this is my garden (no chickens in it yet because thes pics are from last year..and my chickens have only been here two weeks! but I will add more to the second link) the first one is the link I started and lost the password so I had to start a second one...and well ...now.. come to think of it I can not remember what I did for that one either!!!

since these were taken I have put in a coop and six more raised beds on the tiers ..

Back to work today and all I can hope is that my little plants (I did put in some new herbs) do not drown in this mess) and the seeds I planted do not float away

side note
my roof is leaking and I want to cry..it is one of those projects we were hoping we could hold off on for 2 more years while we finished other stuff ..but our 50 year roof somehow knows the 50 years are up ...argh ..I dont want to work more hours to pay for a roof I would rather garden!!!

one goal I have for this year (a resolution) I picked up a tourist brochure for Washington State public gardens I have lived here for 25 years and have only toured a few of them ..this year I am going to do so!

Happy Gardening you guys I wish for better weather and spring to come for all of us!
