Thank you, Patty. It is funny he bad to put track shoes on to catch the little zippy thing. Do you think it is possible that Clyde is her dad and maybe Rhonda Runner her mom? Then she'd be Uno's half sister. Your EEs sound so sweet and kind. Could you post a couple photos when you get a chance? I'd love to see Autumn.

This was taken a couple of weeks ago. Autumn is on the left she's the EE but she doesn't have any muffs. Bee Bee is in the middle she's an EE too. Bubba is cut off in the pic but that's our head roo.

It's possible that Rhonda is Que Sera's mom. She could have laid in the little house but I don't think Sherry or Clyde would have let her. I think she is Sherry's baby. Que Sera and Uno are probably 1st cousins. Topper or Dee Dee are the grandmothers to Hershey, Yoo Hoo, Que Sera and Uno. Topper and Dee Dee hatched, Thelma , Louise, Sherry, Rhonda, Freckles and Sonny last year. I am really lost here trying to figure out who is who.

Ditto to what Miss Lydia said. I'm a little surprised she hasn't started laying yet. Can you remind me what breed she is?

She's a Welsh Harlequin, I thought maybe it was because we still have three babies (Charlie, Henry, and Sally) but I don't know honestly haha.

Does anyone know when the momma duck starts laying eggs again after hatching some babies? Lady hatched them two and a half months ago so wondering when she'll start laying eggs again. I read somewhere that the babies are essentially adults at the two month mark because that's when they can fly and fend for them selves, is that true? Excuse all my questions today I just can't find a straight and anywhere else and I know you're all super smart about ducks
Thelma and Louise being the wanna be mothers that they are laid within a week of hatching the babies. It took Sherry a couple of weeks to start laying again. I think it really depends on the duck. Lady might just be taking a break from laying.

Feel free to ask any questions you want and we will try and answer them.

Thanks all so much for answering my questions, I figured Lady would lay as soon as possible because the day we got her she made a nest and then laid 27+ eggs in it. She was super momma when they hatched too, even before that the only time she left her nest was to take a bathroom break (not to eat or drink I figured out soon she wouldn't even get up for that and put it in front of her) or to swim for a few minutes, then it was straight back on. She pulled out all her down too for her nest as well. Maybe actually having the babies broke her broody for a while lol.

She laid 27 eggs and hatched them? Wow! I've never heard of a duck hatching that many eggs in one clutch!

Oh no, I should've been more specific, she only ended up hatching nine of them because some just didn't develop and what not and then the dang blue jays got a few. She wishes she could have had that many!

As they started hatching she had 15 eggs left (she kicked a few out before because they were never gonna hatch, it still amazes me how they know) and then again the blue jays got a few. Only nine of those fifteen hatched, I gave them about four days bc she still sat on them but when I float tested them and cracked them open they had all rotten and never developed why she didn't kick those ones out like the others confused me but oh well
