I could probably attempt to get something out of my RIR pair and then incubate the eggs, in order to have more project birds. The annoying thing is the hen is out of lay... My production red hen went broody yesterday so I let her keep two eggs. Unfortunately it is Winter here, so If I want to get anything done it'll have to wait until spring...

Okay, one more issue, even If I do make plenty of crosses in the spring, what am I supposed to do with all of the excess birds? I don't have a job, so my parents make the money to feed the chickens, and wouldn't be all to keen on having project pens with near useless birds in them. :(

On a lighter note, my production red (Marielle's) eggs are hopefully fertile (If the rooster has done his job, which I have seen him) So soon enough I should have some more chickies.

I can't raise chicks on a large scale due to issues with the power, but broodies are awesome. I can probably buy some fertile eggs in the Spring, wich will be gret if I don't get scammed agin...

Sorry for the novel.

No kidding. It's not a good time right now with our animals.
I am praying we won't have to liquidate our flock :fl

:hugs:fl
