I started this thread last year when I got my first chicks. My chicks are now a year okd and laying! I have my first set of hatching eggs in my homemade incubator now! This will be another first for me. Is anyone else hatching thier first eggs this year?

I am getting 30 chicks in a couple weeks as well. I am brand new to this and ordered 30 because i expect 1/2 to be roosters and we cant keep rooster here. Now I am concerned that i ordered too many. I see that you have 30 as well. How big is your brooder (could you send me pics of it?). I was going to use a 28gal Rubbermaid tub but now think after reading this, thats too small. Also, I live in CO, the weather can be from one extreme to the other in early "Spring" (snow or 80 and sunny isn't out of the question). I expected to move them out doors at 5weeks old. Do you think that is too early?
