Cochin Thread!!!

These are some of the birds I got this weekend~ Mottled Rooster Blue Mottled Hen Them together :) Mille Fleur rooster (he's still young and getting his shape) Frizzled Mille Fleur hen :) I'm so excited to start hatching eggs from them! And hopefully selling hatching eggs soon.
Wow, they are very pretty. Love the blue mottled hen. I'm partial to blues too

If anybody is looking for cochins from a hatchery, I strongly recommend efowl's barred cochins. I purchased ten assorted cochins and ended up with three partridge hens and one partridge rooster, four barred hens (although one died in chickhood), and two silver laced hens. The silver laced were of the lowest quality out of the three varieties, and a couple of my partridge cochins grew up to be pretty girls. The partridge had better feathering and overall shape than the silver laced did, and were a bit heavier bodied too. My barred cochins, though, are wonderful! They have the huge, rounded, cochin shape, with the cape/tail feathers reaching the same level as the top of the head. Their foot feathering as well is dense and full, and they are heavy and large overall. One of my hens ("Hippo") even won Best of Asiatic Class in the Central Florida fair! I have to say I'm glad that they didn't know that she was from a hatchery!

Anyway, my other barred hens won blue ribbons and my partridge and silver laced won reds. I'll post some pictures of Hippo up here sometime when I get the chance. But if you are ever thinking about buying from efowl... Seriously. Invest in some barred cochins. They will not let you down

Here are my Cochin babies. Boss Hog and Flash. This is my first time as a chicken mama. I can't wait to get more. I'm amazed at how beautiful Cochins can be!!!

They were supposed to be white, looks like white with lots of black, their neck feathers are all coming in black with white stripes and the bigger one has black spots on its tail feathers. My husband and I were talking about hatching some last night, we aren't quite set up for that yet though, but I'll keep you in mind when we are! Thanks!!
