Cochin Thread!!!

Hi, I just hatched out 3 chicks from my cochins. I am fairly certain that the hens laying are the black pullet and the self blue pullet. However, there is a slim possibility that they could have been laid by the gold laced or red. Basically they are running together until I get my breeder pens built. Which keeps getting delayed. Latest delay caused by the windstorm that ripped the whole front wall and door off their building. Anyways this is what was running in their when I set these eggs:

Hens/pullets:

gold laced x2
red
self blue x2
black
wc black bantam polish

Roos:
Black (head roo)
self blue (second)
red
barred (now gone)

Mixed white lf (was growing out but could have mated)
cuckoo ee lf (gone now was growing out probably no chance to mate but again you never know)

I know self blue is recessive at least to black. One chick looks to be self blue and one from the same day looks black. I know I will probably not ever know for sure on these but figured I would check if some of the genetics people on here could give me some pointers until my breeding book gets here. I have seen the self blue mating the black and the black mating the self blue. Is it possible to tell as chicks? If so I can get pics when they come out. So far two look black and one looks self blue. 3 eggs to go but I think one quit before, and I think one might have been shrinkwrapped.

Please don't tempt her she is my DD and after almost 2 years of having chickens and picking on me about being a crazy chicken lady she caught the bug when we bought 3 bantam's from tractor supply that everyone on her told her were cochins she now has joined byc and has a list of breeds she wants. I am at my limit.

Please i would love some splash cochins. pm me and we can talk about it please.

Here is my Krull, he will be 12 weeks old on Wednesday. And he still PEEPS! Is this normal for Cochins? He is my only Cochin so I no one to compare him too. Other than that he is a very sweet boy and is starting to watch over his ladies, at least from his spot at the coop door

She is absolutely darling. Is she a standard?

Thank you. No, she's a bantam. I fell in love with her at a chicken swap, I know her breeders show, they were trying to part with some cockerels so had a bunch set up as pairs. I saw her and fell immediately in love, I said something to them, and because they know me (same breeders I bought my silkie and frizzled cochin from) they let me get her. We have named her "Blue Jeans" or just "jean". She's very sweet and my boys love how soft her feathers are. I also got a 4 wk old Mottled from them.

I love her...she has a very kind eye. It is nice to build relationships with breeders that have good quality chooks. Well done!!
