Cochins passing pure blood - Cocci Kills

Tell him to give his bird 3 drops to the beak tonight and in the morning.

In addition to the 2 teaspoons Corid/gallon of water.

He needs to keep an eye on the bird to make sure it is drinking water though.
If it doesn't drink water it won't do any good.

X2!

Corid is a thiamine disruptor so dosage is not super critical--will not kill them if too strong. That is why you do not give them vitamins during treatment.

The important thing is to get the protozoa overload under control. The blood is an indication that the intestinal lining is being shredded. That is not good at all.

If it does not stop the blood in a day or two, start the other treatment.

I'm fairly certain they got it here. Except Egg Man's Cochins have it too. He pulled them from fair today.
The seller kept these birds indoors their entire lives and cleaned their pen daily.
This is probably why they died so quickly. They had no tolerance. I purposefully expose my birds to dirt from a young age so they build up a tolerance. I've never had an issue with coccidiosis.

I think it is @lazy gardener who puts grass and soil plugs in her brooder to get the chicks accustomed to it.
