Now the real question... what do I do with it?? Did you all eat your first egg? Save it? Put it in a shadow box and hang it on the wall next to your wedding photo? I CANT BELIEVE IT HAPPENED :wee
Congratulations!!! :celebrate

Another Nicey and Henrietta egg today! Caught both in the nest boxes!
I think the imposter layer yesterday was Nicey. Today’s egg looks identical to the egg yesterday. I already ate it so I can’t compare:barnieView attachment 2394130View attachment 2394131
Your girls are doing great!
I just got my first egg yesterday, too, and today, another, from my leghorn, Blanche. I was so excited I took photos (of course) and texted them to all my friends!

Today I got one egg from Nicey. Tomorrow will be one week since she started laying and only took one day off!!

I also thought I lost Henrietta today. It was awful. I went out to change their water and did a head count. And counted again. And again. I kept getting 15. So I started counting my trios. A Roo, 3 Brahmas, 3 Wellies, 3 OEs, 2 EEs.... wait! Two Easter eggers?! Where is Henrietta?? I checked the run. Under the coop. In the rafters. In the hideouts. In the nest boxes. Nope nope nope.

We do have open parts of the run since it’s connected to the garden for the fall, so I grabbed a stick and ventured into the weeds lining the property. She must have flown out at some point in the morning. I’m out Calling her. Looking for feathers or blood. Listening. I went in the house and got blueberries. I let all the other chickens out of the run to range thinking they would find her or she would hear them clucking about blueberries and come running. She didn’t.

I work from home so I had to go back inside to finish some work. I got binoculars so I could watch the weeds by the coop. I snuck out there two more times to walk the perimeter to see if she was just hunkered down. Did the neighbors dogs get her? A hawk? A skunk? She was my second layer and so so sweet. How could I lose her?

then I saw her. Strolling along the fence to the run. She was on the wrong side but looked like she stepped out for tea with the queen. I screamed “SHES HERE SHES HERE” and my little Boston Terrier barked and jumped. I ran out and got her into the coop. And when I locked them up tonight after dark, still 16. Have to keep better track of Houdini Henrietta!!!!
