A note regarding the rice bags....
I had Torticollis (a horrible neck condition where I couldn't lift my head, even to drink from a glass, VERY painful) several years ago. My mom made a rice bag for me that was long enough to cover my neck as well as go down the length of my back. It was the BEST thing in the WORLD!! Nuked it in the microwave for a few seconds and total, complete bliss!
Only bad thing about it was that the weavels and bugs found their way to the rice (I have no clue what kind of rice she used). She started using recleaned feed corn instead and we've never had a problem since.
She now makes them in squares, rectangles, rounds, any shape for the small of your back, or on your upper back. She also makes them horseshoe shaped to wrap around your neck.
They can be a bit heavy, though with the corn, so she is careful not to make them too large.
They also work wonders kept in the freezer for my migraines as well.
PERFECT gift idea!
