I’m about to post the internal pip video!

See the shadow in the air cell?

Yeah it’s just pressing, so not a pip but I was a little excited  I’m wondering when the safety hole needs to happen?

At least not till several (12ish) hours after an internal pip. No real point in doing one before an internal happens.

I figured but I’m thinking they’re positioned incorrect. Would that change anything? I’m not going to rush it if I don’t need to

Without knowing exactly where the beaks are, you could poke a hole anywhere and not help them at all. You need to know where beaks are first. One may poke out the side, who knows! So until the are breathing air on their own, it’s basically impossile to help them yet. A hole in the air cell isn’t going to help until they are breathing that air and need some extra. That’s the point of a safe hole, to provide extra air if they need it.

Ah, okay, I understand now! Yeah I can’t tell where they are at beakwise unfortunately. It’s a marans egg so pretty dark as is. :hmm

Question for future reference; could you make a safety hole into the internal membrane as well? Or would that kill the chicks inside? I’m just thinking since it seems that mine were unable to internally pip, maybe getting them started would have helped?

I’m just wondering if they could even pip internally if they’re positioned weird
