Double Yolk 2018-2019 - DIS

Question for future reference; could you make a safety hole into the internal membrane as well? Or would that kill the chicks inside? I’m just thinking since it seems that mine were unable to internally pip, maybe getting them started would have helped?

I’m just wondering if they could even pip internally if they’re positioned weird

It’s possible, but very risky! If they can’t even break the membrane, they most likely aren’t strong enough to survive, and also probably aren’t far enough absorbed either.

I suppose it might be worth a shot with double yolkers, but I would think chances are very slim.

I’m definitely in the hands-on camp, and regularly assist call ducklings and serama chicks. But there’s a fine line in knowing when to assist and when to wait. But experience is the best teacher. Trust your gut and deal with whatever the outcome.

Yeah, we aren’t going to be super involved in it since last time I tried to assist I found out one was fully developed, tried to pip, and the other had died from that pip try. I can still see quite a bit of veining so I’m in no rush to make a safety hole, if I even get to that point.

It’s really dark and I have no idea why. I’m guessing the window blinds must have closed themselves. At least I only have one class today, for 1 hour and 20 minutes so I can fix the light when I get home in a couple hours.

A COUPLE OF HOURS? I can't hold my breath that long!!!!
