This has been an interesting thread for me. A have a flock of Welshies with one drake and originally 5 hens (2 have since died). I hatched 4 more this last April. These ducklings are all girls, and for a while I was disappointed because I was thinking a 1 to 7 ratio was too skewed, and my boy might be wanting to have some bro-time with another drake. But reading the above advice (especially honanbm's Post #13) , I'm seeing now that everything might have turned out for the best.
That sounds like a fantastic ratio. Welshies are the best — absolute favorite standard ducks out there. A good choice!

I assume with them being nearly 11 weeks (I think) if one of them were a hen she would have found her quack by now, right? They were purchased from tractor supply on July 27
Yes, I would think so, if they're 11 weeks old they should be quacking by now.
My Khaki Campbells are 10 weeks old and have been quacking their heads off for several weeks already. They quack ALL the time and are super noisy.
