Falling Down Heights, my daily life

Rudy the Lone Chick has decided that food is to dust-bathe in. >.< Gave the little bugger a dish of Diatomatious Earth, which is being ignored.

The gooselings are now allowed to free range for the simple reason that they figured out those big things on their backs (wings) were great to get the out of the pen! :rant So, I also set up a baby pool for them and they LOVED IT! Jumping in and out, rolling around in it, it was hilarious!

That goose sure is enjoying herself! 😂

Pretty sure my spunky little lone chick Rudy is a pullet! :) Which means I can keep her!!! Digging into the genetics, since dad was a uniform red and mom is a blue cuckoo, all male offspring would be barred. And Rudy is NOT barred!

I've been working with her to get her good and tame, since she's alone. I still have my Brahma inside (REALLY need to get a pen made!) so she chirps to them. Also had one of my Chantecler cockerels in here for a few days because he got pecked and no one carries Blu Kote around here (only RED, which kinda defeats the purpose!) but I put him back out yesterday and Rudy was NOT pleased with that, lol!

Moved the last two ducklings outside, at least for the daytime. I bring them in at night. The one with the wry neck wasn't getting better so I figured some fresh air and sunshine might help. If it doesn't, I'm going to have to cull him. :( He's eating and drinking and growing at least. I think he may have suffered some sort of injury at hatch. This was the egg I found cold and trampled and managed to save in the incubator. I'd kept another of the ducklings with him for company, but they were both getting way to big for my bathtub.

Also, for some reason, they were getting aggressive towards me, especially Chill, the wry neck. He would bite me any chance he got.

One less chicken.

The Silkie-mix cockerel I had for sale had been getting more and more aggressive. Yesterday evening, he attacked me again, this time landing several blows.

I'm not about to risk my reputation for one cockerel, nor will I abide any aggression towards people in my animals.

Its definitely not nice to rehome bad boys only to make it someone else's problem. Good job Wind!
