First Hatch-a-long! November 2021!

November 8th -

Day 5 candeling! My daughter (8) was elated being able to see eyes on two of them and watch their little heart flicker harder tonight. Husband could finally see it too!

I'm concerned Brahma A seems to have gone backwards. I'll keep an eye on it.

Silkie C, too... but that's the little egg and thickener grayish shell. It'd always been harder to see.

And brahma D still has 0 change from the 2nd day. I actually see a little black spot floating along the edges and it moves inside the shell. I'm thinking this one will be tossed soon for fear of exploding yolk.

November 9th -

Day 6 candeling! We have eyes and wiggles!

I'm fairly certain brahma C did quit in the last 2 days. All the veins have gone and no progress. And brahma D still has no development.

The air cells are looking pretty formed and larger than the last couple days. I have my humidity at 50% (varies from 49-52) and temp about 99-100.5 (two readings and always vary a little depending on which I read but mostly accurate).

In the day 5 post, eggs brahma A and C are mixed up on the labels. The one with less spots was C, not A!

It's hard keeping them in order when I edit.

November 10th-

Day 7 candeling!

Day 7... the first milestone for the eggs has come. We will be discarding Brahma D and C, sadly they did not make it. But the other 8 eggs are doing great.

I had a mini heart attack when candeling Silkie B and C the first time tonight. I couldn't find the fetus anywhere! After going through them all and feeling like I had to give it another shot, it didn't make sense his they just would disappear in 24hrs, I tried candeling them from the ends where the air cell is and sure enough, both little babies were just hiding among their blood vessels and since the veins are getting thicker and more complex it's not allowing as much light to show through. I audibly sighed with relief.

I have a video of Silkie A again tonight. You'll see it wiggle in and out of my view which gives you an idea of why candeling them tonight was a bit tricky!

November 11th-

Day 8 candeling! Really difficult to see anything tonight and it makes me anxious. But I think I found all of them. Is it common for them to be harder to find at this point? I knew like day 11-14 they mostly fill the shell. But I didn't expect limited visibilitythis soon. 10 more days until lock down!
