Much to the distress of the Princesses I sat out in their field listening to the hawk and playing recordings of hawks from the Cornell website.
We have a match.
It is a Juvenile Red Tailed Hawk.
I didn’t see him/her but the cry is an exact match.
It seems to be setting up house in the area. Grrr.
In good news all the chickens recognize the call and stay under cover.

You have your red-tailed and I have my Cooper's. Lucky us.

I dosed Mr Pompei with the Revolution it was easy peasy, wonder if that would be useful for you?

I just use a few treatments of Vaseline directly to the bugs. They eventually leave off in a few days. But I have to be diligent about it.

There are two speckled sussax, what are the breeds of the other three? Their feather coloring is incredible.
