I just hugged my fluffy butts goodnight, and thought of your coop paintings!

It could have been worse. I went to the coop the other day and found a snake going under the coop thru my impenatrable fortress. Then to add insult when I was in the run it found a slight flaw in the inner defenses and came into the run !!! Surprisingly the chicks didn't seemed phased by it and fortunately he found he way back under the coop. I looked him up (of course I had no camera with me) and he is a Rat snake so maybe he can earn his keep. It was about 4ft long. Got off of internet. View attachment 2123385

So maybe that’s a good thing? Is it definitely not a threat to the birds?

I will do that but I want to post a complete set for anyone to download so they don't have to go through the learning process like I did.

I will be quite detailed on the coop build and the necessary changes over the years. Lots of photos. I have lots of photos.

Danger Will Robinson, Danger!

Something tried to chew its way into the run on Sunday night. I set up a camera last night but I did not catch anything on it.

I suppose it could be the rabbit's trying to get back in but I need to know. We are headed towards hypervigilance until I find out.

I am very concerned.

I would bet money it’s the bunnies. DH used to let the bunnies exercise in the hall and they chewed all the trim. Looks just like that.

Wow, I'm surprised it's M&S! They must be pushing the boat out on gourmet groceries

Here in the UK M&S is considered one of the more affluent grocery shops and they like to offer niche and more high end items. All commercial eggs over here are a light brown/tan colour, so anything deeper brown, white or coloured would be considered quite fancy at best, and viewed with suspicion at worst!
When I give my eggs away to neighbours and colleagues, the first time they see them they are always surprised "Oohh, what lovely colours!" to which I smile and nod whilst internally cursing my Charlie for her non-blue eggs

I've made mistakes and hens have paid for it. Each generation is safer than the one before. I try to learn and improve everytime. I'm human and fallible. I pray every day that no more hens pay the price for my mistakes.

Be kind to yourself Bob, we all make genuine mistakes and in my book that is understandable and forgivable. Ignorance and neglect is not, and no one could ever accuse you of those.
