I feel like this is a monumental moment. I caught up to the present and made it through all the posts from the beginning of this thread. What a wonderful journey and what a wonderful exchange of knowledge. There is heartbreak, alot of laughter, many touching moments and through it all so much love for chickens and all animals but also for each other. By Bob started a wonderful thing here all those years ago. I hope it continues for many more to come.

I've just washed my cutey in mild dish soap with organic liquid soap lemon and bicarbonate. I'm praying this works, his skin feels better and he's sulking.

Sometimes, that 'horrible stuff' is what will work. Many times 'natural remedies' are really good for staving off things, but not necessarily good at controlling or eliminating them once they get a hold. So, sometimes putting off using the 'horrible stuff' means longer suffering with whatever they have. It is a balancing act, where it is difficult sometimes to decide when one isn't enough and the other is more suitable in the long run. Best of luck with this - I hope what you used works so he doesn't suffer and it doesn't get worse.

Let me just say, I do not know who has worse selective hearing. The teenager or her papaw. The whole time we are saddling up Russ I keep repeating, "walking only, nothing else." The first 5 minutes she is on his back she asked me to walk beside her with a lead rope attached as she was so nervous she was visibly shaking. Her papaw rides up beside us on Dirt and tells me to let her go and told Rosie to come on. The minute I turn my back to them I hear it and turn around. Up the road they both go slow gaiting. What happened to walking only people.

Both. Hmmm, it isn't what I wanted to hear...so I didn't, right? Naw, she didn't really mean that....

Hopefully Rosie and Papaw ARE careful, and Russ doesn't get spooked or anything. The real risk comes in the coming weeks. As she gets more confident about 'nothing happened', she will get more 'bold' and less cautious. That Rosie exercises SOME good judgement and that nothing goes sideways on her. Headstrong & teen are two things that should never be in the same sentence!
