Kren is VERY interested in her. She's evasive, understandable with all the new feathers growing in on her back.

She retreated to the coop to grow feathers in peace. The hormones are still raging. Honestly, I'm surprised Kren didn't try. He certainly circled her a bunch, tried herding her, but respected her evasion. And responded to the hen in distress call. There's hope for him yet! Horus.....has been a good boy around Pippa, but a rotten brat around the older ladies.... Winter, please come cool the hormones on these idiots!
Wonderful storm photo. I love that! Very pretty. 🥰

So, I had a rough night last night. I was putting the littles away, and one of my roosters gave a horrendous, terrified ?squawk? at the top of his lungs & continued with it....I ran as fast as I could, but it wasn't quick enough. A fox got one of my hens....and it took me a full 20 min. to get the rooster to calm down...he was missing a few more saddle feathers (he is in the middle of a hard molt and doesn't have any tail feathers at the moment.) A good boy sounding the alarm....but I still lost a sweet Astralorp :(

I suppose I have been beating the odds for too long this year...my neighbor has lost multiple to both foxes and raccoons. But, I just can't see sequestering them to the run 24/7...when I get home from work they run to the gate and are begging for out time.☹️😓
Oh no! I'm so sorry. That must be super awful. I cannot imagine being almost there in time. :hugs :hugs

This is the face of someone who wants up on the bed. This is also the face of someone who has spent the past 2 hours wading in the creek. Sorry girl, bath first, bed later.

All closed up before 5pm. Gray, overcast, still spitting random flakes. Not sure if it's the pumpkin in the coop or the gray day, but they were all in....Hector snuck out the door when I went in to shut the hatch. He had to consider whether to re-enter or not.
