I am sitting out supervising the Princesses. Even with the electric fence I don’t like them to be out at dusk without me there because that is prime fox time. And particularly now with the dead leaves on the ground they make a heck of a noise rustling around.
But I don’t want to confine them while Diana is still foraging particularly given her molting.
I am sure every fox for miles around is listening and watching!
Anyway, I had a nice visit with Bernadette while Diana was off digging for goodies. I find Bernie quite interesting looking. Her comb is quite small and her features quite sharp. What I really love about her, which I was not fast enough to capture, is how she skips everywhere. When she was done with me she was off skipping to join Diana. It is quite striking. Not a walk, and not exactly a run, definitely a skip and she rarely goes in a straight line.
I am sure this is overly anthropomorphizing, but it is like she enjoys how well she can use her legs.

All 3 girls chicks are now 3 weeks old today and tomorrow. I waited until dusk when the mom's were putting everyone to bed and went out geared with a head lamp. It is so much easier to reach under the girls and pull out a chick then stressing them out chasing them. At this age I'm using the presence of wattles and bigger colored combs to pinpoint a male. This is all subject to change if I have a rare for me late developing boy as most of mine tend to be early bloomers if they are not silkie mixed. If I had to call their sexes now I am confident in saying Blueberry has 3 pullets and 1 cockerel. Bunny has 2 pullets and 2 cockerels. Raven, god love this hen, if I am right has 5, yes you heard me 5 out of 5 pullets. If I am wrong on any of them it is the 4 total brown chicks and Raven has 3 of them. Their combs are tiny and orange but it is the same color they hatched out with. No wattle development at all on them either which is why I'm saying pullets.

Morning! Too early to get up really but my RLS has me up again. Mr P is yodelling up a atorm out there - music to my ears really

Glad he's feeling better. Is there another worming dose he/they should be getting to finish that process or is the once enough?

I am awake and up - I made the mistake of checking the barn cam and not lowering the volume on my phone - Mr P is crowing up a storm! Hahaha I am awake now hahaha!

Just had to sneak some dogs in there didn't ya!

With 12 dogs it's hard not too, lol. I am happy that they mingle together freely with no worries. Makes it more relaxing for me.

Glad he's feeling better. Is there another worming dose he/they should be getting to finish that process or is the once enough?

In about 2 weeks I will give him another dose, but the girls won’t get any more. I did a herd fecal back in the summer (before the Roo arrived here) and it was clear.

As with the horses I only worm them a few times a year.

I might do a herd fecal next month to see the herd load, and do Mr P separately.

But he is definitely more active now - every day I see big changes, some not for the nicest! He grabbed Dorothy and tore out 3 feathers this morning. It only in the morning when he is so aggressive though so I let him be. He is actually very well behaved the rest of the day!

Okay, so a 'sort of' coffee clatch Wednesday. (I don't drink coffee, nor have a spot where I can leisurely lounge with beverage & chickens in the morning - only when they free range...and no doing that before work - would NEVER get them all back into the run in time!! So, separate pics to meet the standards.

Yep I think his issue was the parasite load. I have also not seen any further stools with the intestinal shedding.

Makes me feel rotten I didn’t do this earlier
